European river line, A-Rosa will have a new river cruise ship to be delivered in 2021.

The new vessel will cruise primarily on the northern Rhine, departing from Cologne and visiting Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Bruges and Antwerp.

The line has just signed a contract with Concordia Damen shipyard in the Netherlands to build the 140-cabin ship. The new vessel will have several family cabins with separate sleeping and living areas and balcony.

“With a length of 135m, a width of 17.7 m and a fourth deck, it offers more space,” says Jorg Eichler, managing director of A-Rosa.

There is an adult swimming pool and a smaller children’s pool on the sun deck. The restaurant will also feature a separate children’s eating area.

Children aged 15 and below travel free and during school holidays, the ship will offer childcare services from 8am to 9 pm in the Kids’ Club.

The vessel will also have an extra large spa and wellness area including a sauna, whirlpool, ice grotto, heated lounges and treatment rooms.

The new ship will have shore power connection, allowing the vessel to charge its battery overnight so that when the ship departs, it will not create any emissions. It will also have energy-saving features including an optimised hull to lower fuel consumption.

A-Rosa, based in Rostock, Germany started operations with two river ships on the Danube River in 2002 and steadily expanded its fleet to 13 to cruise the Rhine, Rhone, Seine, Douro and Danube River.
