American Cruise Lines has consolidated its position as the undisputed leader in US cruising with the announcement that American Harmony, the second ship in its revolutionary Modern Riverboat Series, began construction earlier this year.

Sister-ship American Song, the first ship in the series, sets sail on its inaugural cruise on October 6, 2018 on the Mississippi River, while one of the line’s most beautiful paddlewheelers, America, kicked off the 2018 Mississippi River season last week, departing from New Orleans.

By October of this year, American Cruise Lines will have three newly built ships plying the Mississippi: two authentic paddlewheelers and the first modern riverboat in US history.

When it debuts in 2019, American Harmony will take over on the Mississippi for American Song, which will be redeployed to the Columbia and Snake rivers for 2019.

A leader in the industry, American Cruise Lines has the largest fleet in the US, three distinct ship styles, and two modern riverboats cruising along America’s two most popular rivers. The line’s unwavering focus on ship innovation and a tradition of introducing only brand new ships, has established it as the gold standard for US cruising.

With 10 ships and more under construction, American operates the largest modern fleet in the US with more than 35 itineraries visiting 25 states. The line cruises along the rivers and waterways of New England, Alaska, the Pacific Northwest, the Mississippi River system, and the Southeast.
