River cruise company Avalon Waterways will be putting an Avalon Adventure Host onboard its European 2019 sailings to help guests who are looking for a more adventurous and active options.

The popular river cruise line launched its active-themed excursions in 2017, which has already been a big hit.

The Adventure Host will be onboard the Adventure Centre which will help guests to book activities like biking through local towns and villages, hiking, kayaking excursions or booking complimentary fitness classes on the ships’ Sky Deck.

“For those looking for heart-pumping discoveries … we are now providing our guests with an Avalon Adventure Host who will be on-hand with gear, maps and more for active pursuits on and off the ship,” stated Pam Hoffee, managing director of Avalon Waterways.

Also launching next year is the new AvalonGo App which will help river cruisers explore each destination they visit independently. The app will provide a detailed daily itinerary as well as nearby attractions, maps, directions as well as the best local cafes, bars, restaurants and entertainment.

The Adventure Hosts program will be launched on itineraries on the Rhine, Danube and Rhone rivers and a new Avalon Choice program will mean that guests can choose between Classic, Discovery and Active excursions on all itineraries throughout Europe.

The Classic category features traditional guided tours; the Discovery option includes activities like cooking classes and painting workshops while the Active option includes paddling, biking, hiking and paddling excursions.

Also launching next year is the new Avalon Envison which will sail on the Danube.
