Luxury line Crystal River Cruises is offering low solo fares in 2018 and 2019.
The line has become one of many, like Riviera Travel, Avalon Waterways and Scenic to offer reasonable deals for single river cruises.
With Crystal River Cruises, guests can choose on more than three dozen luxury voyages sailing over the next 18 months and solo fares start at 110 per cent of regular cruise fares.
The solo fares are available on the Danube and Rhine rivers sailing from Vienna, Budapest, Basel and Amsterdam.
This year, the line has two new ships – the Crystal Debussy and Crystal Ravel which is designed to accommodate only 106 guests.
“River cruising offers clients a more intimate way to explore destinations with personalized authenticity,” said Helen Panagos, vice president of River Destination Experiences at Crystal River Cruises told SmartBrief.
“Our Crystal Collection of curated destination experiences provides a rich variety of options so that each guest may customize their shoreside discovery to very exacting preferences.”
Crystal’s river ships are all inclusive, with a few exceptions. So fares include gratuities, fitness classes, unlimited complimentary WiFi, all drinks (wine, beer and cocktails), shore excursions (except for a few upgrades) and all dining venues except for the Vintage Room. If you arrive and depart on embarkation and disembarkation day, your transfers will also be included in the price.
Also onboard are several restaurants. While typically on most river ships, there is only one dining room, Crystal River Cruises has The Waterside Restaurant which is the ships’ main dining room. It offers a menu of local cuisines as well as a modern take on Continental dishes. The bistro also has small tapas-style plates like sliders and salad. And there is also room service. For a fee, you can dine at the Vintage Room which comes with wine pairings.
Here are some of the other river cruise lines which offer fantastic deals for solo travellers:
The river cruise line has made a bid at the solo river cruise market by offering fantastic prices for singles. For example, a seven-night round-trip cruise from Porto along the Douro River in Portugal is priced from $2,769. It includes daily visits, shore excursions, all onboard meals, WiFi and more. The five-star ships also offer fine dining restaurants, marble lobbies, sumptuous lounges, sun decks, splash pools, gyms and all suites have French or full balconies.
Avalon Waterways offers guests a wealth of itineraries where they have waived their solo supplement. On the Rhone River departures, guests can sail on an 11-day cruise from Paris to Cote d’Azure and some of the highlights include a visit to Lyon, a guided walk through Tournon and much more. Prices start from as low as $3,478 per person.
